Boats Along the Li River

When the tourist boats head out on the Li River, the go in force. There are dozens. The bigger ones are for the foreign tourists, while the smaller, one-level boats are for Chinese tourists. Chinese tourists can take the bigger boats, but they are more expensive, so mostly they don't.

They served food and drinks aboard. And yes, those are snakes in the wine. The more snakes, the better the wine. That's what they say. The snake wine isn't bad, but the food could have been better.

When the boats arrive at the upper dock of the river, they let you off at the end of a long shopping street with lots of opportunity to buy trinkets -- and even some decent merchandise.
